Dante Alighieri Society membership offers many opportunities for immersion in Italian language and culture. A variety of yearly membership options are available, including family, school, pensioner and Giovani membership.
We offer both regular classes and special events throughout the year. These include:
Young Dante (Dante Giovani) membership: This membership category is designed specifically for young Italian enthusiasts who have finished high school but are under the age of 30. Our members range from university students to young adults interested in all facets of Italian. The Dante Giovani committee organises free events to cater specifically to the interests and needs of members. Non-members are also welcome, though we ask for a donation at the door.
We offer both regular classes and special events throughout the year. These include:
- VCE conversation classes held at several locations in the greater Melbourne area
- The Lectura Dantis, which explores a different aspect of the Divine Comedy each year
- Italian movie nights
- A course on a cantica of the Divine Comedy, conducted in Italian and open to all
- Various social and cultural events such as dinners and literature recitations
